Sandra Glaves-Morgan is the daughter of Vernice and Aston Glaves. She completed her undergraduate studies at Yale University. There, she was in the fourth class of women at Yale. She has a Juris Doctor Degree from Brooklyn Law School and was admitted to the New York and Federal Bars. As an attorney, she has represented children for the Legal Aid Society, worked for the New York State Comptroller in the areas of Finance and Legislation, engaged in private practice, worked for the Board of Education of the City of New York for ten years as an Associate Counsel to the Chancellor, serving under seven Chancellors.
Sandra’s last position was at the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA). She served as the Agency Chief Contracting Officer/Executive Deputy Commissioner for the Office of Contracts. She came to HRA as Deputy General Counsel for Contracts, Business and Commercial Law. Also during her tenure at HRA, she served as Deputy Commissioner for the Office of Crisis Intervention and Stabilization, overseeing the operation of twelve crisis programs, including the Office of Domestic Violence.
Sandra has spent most of her life in community service. She has received such honors as a Public Advocate’s Proclamation for Outstanding Community Service, the Mid Brooklyn Civic Association Recognition Award for Devoted Community Service, and the Central Brooklyn Community Services Corp. Award for Commitment to Quality Services. Her desire to help others has been recognized as a hallmark of her achievements.
